I always thought I ate pretty clean. One time in the grocery store, I had a lady look at me funny. Then
she said, “you don’t eat anything in a box?”. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but that was pretty much
true. Most of what we eat comes from the outside aisles of the store – fresh fruits and veggies, lean
protein, dairy, eggs.
I do love cheese, but only eat it in moderation (fighting that cholesterol) and go for
naturally low-fat cheeses. I thought I was eating healthy, but I was still struggling with some of my
health goals. I was exercising at a moderate level at least 5 times a week. Still not hitting my goals.
Diet and exercise are both crucial to your overall wellbeing. But nutrition is about 78 – 80% of the
equation. I wasn’t eating balanced and not hitting the levels of protein, fat, and carbs my body needs.
Our food today does not contain as many vitamins and minerals as they did when we were kids. A
carrot is till much more nutritious than a doughnut, but it is not as rich in vitamins and minerals as it was
in 1970. Most of this is due to soil depletion.
In 2013 I was introduced to a nutrition system from Isagenix that fit in with my goals of clean eating. It
balances out what I eat and helps me reach the proper levels of nutrients. And now, I and my
husband are starting to grow our own fruits and veggies on our farm which island that hasn’t been
farmed or treated with pesticides for over 40 years. We still have nutrient dense soil! But I still need to
ensure I am getting the right amount of the foods I need on a daily basis. I do not count calories (fixing
I do not count calories (fixing my skinny vs. healthy issue got me away from that crap), but I do try and track how I’m doing on my
protein intake. I eat as many veggies as I want in a day and 1 or 2 fruits. I continue to use my Isagenix
products to balance my knife and fork meals, fuel my workouts and combat stress. Once I got my
nutrition in an order I could see and FEEL the difference. I now have the energy I need to workout, get
through my work day and play with my kids after dinner! My lab work is all in great shape and I am no
longer using the scale to determine my health.
